About
Why do I do this?
I am an intensivist in Seattle, Washington with an interest in practicing compassionate critical care medicine based on an understanding of physiology and evidence-based medicine. I create OnePager distillations of critical care topics to consolidate my learning, to reference in my own practice, and to employ as a teaching aid to help others learn and practice critical care medicine.
Open Source
These OnePagers are a labor of love for me. They are my own work, and I do my own illustrations. Everything you see is open source. This means that you can use/reuse it however you like but please acknowledge the source. It also means that any improvements or adaptations you make should be shared under the same license. Technically this is a Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0) License
If you’d like to help me by translating these OnePagers into languages other than English please let me know. I’d be happy to host your translations on the site (and acknowledge your contribution).
How do I do this?
I do the research, design (including all the artwork), and writing myself.
My OnePagers are inspired by the Feynman Technique of learning and communicating complex topics:
Choose a concept that you want to learn about. Read about it; write down everything you know about it.
Teach the concept (or pretend you are teaching it) by starting with a blank sheet of paper, presenting information briefly & simply
Identify gaps in your explanation as you teach, and refine the page
Organize and simplify the information, bringing together the most vital pieces of knowledge
This is how I create OnePagers. Importantly, creation is an iterative process, and I rely heavily on comments and feedback from colleagues at work and on #MedTwitter to continually improve my work. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Privacy
No user information is collected (unless you choose to provide your name when you sign up for the mailing list). If you do sign up for the mailing list your information will never be shared or sold.
Versioning
Every OnePager is dated and has a version in the vX.Y format (essentially a simplified semantic versioning schema) where X is a major revision and Y is a minor revision (correction of typos or small errors).
